Electric scooters for motorhomes
WANDLER Buyer's Guide
Electric Scooters for Motorhomes & Camping
An electric scooter with a seat can be a practical additional vehicle when camping: for journeys around the campsite, trips from the pitch to the supermarket, excursions in the surrounding area or flexible mobility at your holiday destination. Here you'll find out which WANDLER model suits your motorhome, camping needs and leisure activities.
Briefly explained
For camping and motorhomes, it's not just about top speed. Dimensions, weight, transport options, battery range, payload, terrain and the legal classification of the respective model are also crucial.
The WANDLER L/E is particularly suitable for quiet paths at the campsite and short distances. The WANDLER K/E is the stronger choice for excursions and everyday journeys from your pitch. The WANDLER A/E is interesting when more traction is required on unpaved roads, on inclines or on changing surfaces.
Which WANDLER is suitable for camping?
Campsite & Short distances
WANDLER L/E
The L/E is the right choice if you mainly want to travel short distances on the campsite, at the pitch, in the city or in the local area.
- 20 km/h moped
- quiet local mobility
- ideal for short distances
- no legal helmet requirement as a moped
Excursions & Everyday Use
WANDLER K/E
The K/E is useful if you want to travel longer distances, go shopping or on excursions from the campsite at up to 45 km/h.
- 45 km/h moped class
- for everyday use and excursions
- more speed than 20 km/h
- Driving licence class AM or B
Traction & Outdoor
WANDLER A/E
The A/E is the strongest choice if you want more traction in addition to 45 km/h, for example on inclines, unpaved roads or changing surfaces.
- 45 km/h moped class
- optional all-wheel drive / dual drive
- more traction
- for camping, outdoor and inclines
Transport in the motorhome
Check dimensions, rear garage and storage space
Before purchasing, you should check whether the scooter fits into your rear garage, van, trailer or other intended storage space. Length, handlebar width and height when folded are crucial.
Length
133 cm
The length applies to all current WANDLER models L/E, K/E and A/E.
Handlebar width
68 cm
Important for doors, rear garages, narrow passages and transport position.
Folded, seat removed
70 cm
The folded height is particularly relevant for rear garages, storage space and space-saving storage.
Range when camping: consider battery and driving style
When camping, range and battery size are particularly important because charging may not always be possible directly at the pitch. WANDLER uses 52V batteries with 26Ah or 35Ah. The actual range depends on speed, rider weight, payload, temperature, tire pressure, terrain and inclines.
Short distances
20 km/h saves energy
Those who drive slowly and steadily use the battery more efficiently. For short distances on the campsite, the L/E is therefore particularly obvious.
Excursions
45 km/h for more range
For excursions from the pitch or longer distances, a 45 km/h model is more practical, but consumes more energy at high speeds.
Reserve
35Ah for longer use
If you plan longer distances or want more range reserve, the 52V 35Ah battery is the more sensible choice.
Typical camping situations
Which model for which camping use?
Paths on the campsite
For trips to the sanitary area, reception, beach access or a small shop, the L/E with 20 km/h is often sufficient.
Shopping from the pitch
If the supermarket or town centre is further away, the K/E with 45 km/h is often the better choice.
Unpaved roads
On gravel, inclines or changing surfaces, the A/E can offer advantages due to increased traction.
Holiday with multiple uses
If the scooter is used regularly, battery range, charging planning, transport and insurance are particularly important.
Driving licence, insurance and helmet when camping
The legal requirements of the respective vehicle also apply on holiday. Before using it, check whether you have the appropriate driving licence or proof, whether the insurance is active and whether a helmet is compulsory.
WANDLER L/E
20 km/h moped
Moped test certificate or suitable driving licence, insurance as a moped, no legal helmet requirement.
WANDLER K/E & A/E
45 km/h moped class
Class AM or B, insurance as a moped/light moped up to 45 km/h and helmet requirement.
Important for transport
When transporting in a motorhome, trailer or van, the scooter must be secured against tipping, sliding and movement. Also check that the battery, accessories, mirrors and loose parts are safely stowed for transport. Measure your available loading space precisely before purchasing.
